Above and beyond generally advised practices, the best way to limit your spending is to keep track of your expenses. But how? Thanks to budget management applications, it’s easier than ever to keep track of money coming in and going out, collect statistics about your spending habits and identify which areas you need to focus on to save money.

Personal expenses and reminders

In addition to tracking expenses, Expense IQ reminds you of upcoming expenses and bills to be paid, and features a chequebook register and budget planner. Designed for individuals and families, this must-have personal budget management app is fully Android-based and free of charge.

Family and professional budgeting

Goodbudget Budget Planner is an application for Android and iPhone users. There are three versions of this application. The free version allows one account and two devices and limited envelopes. The Plus version is $7 per month or $60 annually allows unlimited accounts and envelopes and up to five devices.

This app is an envelope-based system where you assign money towards different spending and expense categories which are known as envelopes. You need to enter income manually and portion it out towards different spending categories. It is super easy to use, especially for couple, professional, or family budgeting.

Smart management

Expensify is a complete application with a technological touch that makes all the difference. It has a built-in scanner that enables you to bundle different expenses together. Thanks to its SmartScan, you can photograph receipts and bills. The application then automatically associates the corresponding data with the appropriate expense account.

In addition to smart management of inflows and outflows, Expensify also supplies detailed accounts and statistics. All these characteristics make it the perfect financial management application for companies of all sizes. It costs 5 dollars for associations and start-ups and 9 dollars for companies. If you have more specific needs, you can create a personalized version (rate to be negotiated with the developer).

All-in-one accounts management

Bankin’ is an application for iPhone and Android. There are three versions of the application: one free version, one paid version for individuals – Bankin’ Plus, and one version for professionals – Bankin’ Pro.

The application enables you to view all of your accounts, whether you are a customer at one bank or several. It also enables you, among others, to have an overview of your finances, monitor your spending with alerts, automate your expense reports and find all of your transactions easily.
