The film festival in a perfect opportunity to experience a variety of new films from the UK and Ireland before their release in Luxembourg. The organiser will screen 12 feature length films from a cross section of genres, mainly representing independent cinema. There will also be a screening of five short films, a seminar and the launch of the Young Filmmaker Competition – all hosted by the organiser.
Appearing in person at this year’s festival are;
- Barry Ward, 20th September: Lead actor in Sunlight
- Andy Bausch, 17th September: Director of Little Duke
- Lydia Little, 21st September: Breaking Out
- Adrian Sibley, 21st September: Director of The Ghost of Richard Harris
- Three short film directors: 28th September
There will also be an Audience Award and an audience prize, where two audience award voters will win either a magnum of Bernard Massard Cremant or a hamper from Home from Home. Association Luxembourgeoise de la Press Cinématographique (ALPC) members will vote for the critics’ award.
Geoff Thompson, Festival Organiser and President of Festival Events Asbl, stated: “The festival’s evolution to a Spring Edition and an Autumn Edition is working well. Attendance numbers were very encouraging in March, and we hope that our traditional September slot will continue to see our audience numbers grow. We are thrilled at the line-up for the Autumn Edition, and excited to be joined by some special guests, who are coming over for post-screening Q&As”.
Tickets cost between €3.70 and €9.00 for screenings at Cinémathèque, and €10 for Ciné Utopia (Under 12s for Little Duke are €7). Season specials are €35 and give entrance to any five festival films at Cinémathèque. The documentary double-bill for The Ghost of Richard Harris and Breaking Out are €15.
