Whether you pick up the items by yourself or make it a part of your group activity, here are a few tips to get you started on the perfect summer picnic!

The Basket

The most essential part of the picnic, besides the food, is the basket itself! If you are looking for a place to find the perfect one, stop by Butlers Home Goods in the heart of Luxembourg City! They have a wide variety of options for your basket, and you are sure to find one that fits your picnic aesthetic. They even have premade packages, called A Day in the Park, that come with 4 plates, 4 cups, 4 knives, 4 forks, 4 spoons, 1 bottle opener, 1 storage jar, 1 cooler, 1 salt and 1 pepper shaker. Cheeses

We absolutely recommend picking up a charcuterie board for your next picnic! La Cave à Manger has a wide selection of cheeses and ready-made boards for you to try – they sell more than 80 farmhouse or artisanal cheeses, made mostly from raw milk. They also have a variety of other small snacks if you are looking to buy all of your picnic goodies in one place! Fresh Fruits

A picnic isn’t quite complete without fresh fruit and berries! Be sure to stop by Epicerie Thym & Citron to pick from all of your favorite, incredibly fresh fruits. We recommend grabbing some fresh strawberries, raspberries, watermelon, or cantaloupe – but it’s ultimately up to you (and your picnic buddies).

Cakes

If you have the room in your basket, bringing some kind of dessert to the picnic is highly encouraged. Whether this is in the form of scones, cakes, cookies, croissants, or other, its always nice to end your picnic with something sweet. LADURÉE Luxembourg Store is definitely worth checking out – they have a huge selection of cakes, brownies, eclairs, macarons, and more! They are also perfectly sized for a last minute addition to your basket.

The Drinks

What kind of picnic is complete without some drinks? Depending on what you and your friends or family are interested in, we recommend bringing along some famous Luxembourg Crémant! Bernard Massard has tons of choices to look through, Crémant or other, but we highly encourage you to try their Roude Leiw or the Cuvée 1921 – Crémant de Luxembourg. This last Crémant was made it 2021 to celebrate their 100th anniversary.

Also, if you are looking to bring along your kids, be sure to pack some sodas, juices, or waters so they can still join in on the fun!

The Place

Mondorf-les-Bains Park
