Day in the City, Itinerary

Have the day off or it’s the weekend? Spend the day in Luxembourg City! Here’s an itinerary that you can follow along for a perfect day of shopping, sightseeing, eating and exploring!
23 February 2021

We started our day at the Luxembourg City train station and then headed to some shops!

Shop 1- Just Home

Just Home is a very cute shop with lots of trinkets and home goods. I bought some amazing spelling candles and the employees were so helpful and polite!

Shop (and snack) 2- Pilea

Pilea is one of my new favorite shops. It is so cute and there is the most adorable dog to greet you at the door. Pilea is a second hand store with coffee, gluten free and vegan treats, books, homemade candles, shoes and of course clothes. We bought shoes and a skirt and got a great coffee. This was a really good way to start the day.

Next I took the tram from Gare and got off Hamilius.

Shop 3- Farmers Market

Next we stumbled upon the Luxembourg farmers market which has so much to offer. We have a whole article on farmers markets for you to check the times and exact location!

Shop 4- Luxembourg House

Luxembourg House is a little shop with lots of gifts and trinkets from right here in Luxembourg. Definitely worth a stop!

Explore- The Grand Ducal Palace

The Grand Ducal Palace is a quick walk away and a beautiful building to see even if you’ve been there before. We got to see the guards march in front of the building which was such a cool experience!

Shop 5- All English Bookstore

As the title says, everything in this bookstore is in English. The store is not very big but has a lot to offer and there is a Luxembourg section which has Luxembourgish cookbooks, tourist books and more!

Snack- The Chocolate House

The Chocolate House is right around the corner and great for a mid day treat. I got a chocolate spoon which they can make into hot chocolate right there for you! Delicious!

Shop 6- CD Buttek

I could have spent hours in CD Buttek. They have CD’s, DVD’s, books and records on every musician you could want. There is so much to pour through and lots of new things to discover!

Next we slowly strolled to our next destination stopping at any shops that caught our eye along the way!

Explore- The Grund

We walked along the water and explored the streets as we headed to our next destination! There is a little church you can go into along with some shops and coffee shops. This is one of the prettiest areas of Lux!

Explore- World Press Photo Exhibit

This was my favorite part of the day. The exhibit has amazing photos from 2020 with captions, and is so interesting. While this exhibit is ending soon, it is in the Centre Culturel de Rencontre Abbaye de Neumünster which always has something new going on.

Shop 7- American Vintage

We headed back to the main square to finish up some shopping. We went into a couple different shops but American Vintage was one of our favorite spots! We also saw some other pop-up vintage shops along the way. There is always something new in this area so keep your eyes peeled!

Snack- Cocottes and Matelots

We ended our day with some dinner at Cocottes, and dessert crepes at Matelots! There are so many food options in the area for takeout so everyone will find something they like!

The tram is super close to this location to take you back to the station or wherever you need to be!

We made a TikTok of us following along with this day, be sure to check it out and stay tuned for more videos!
