It wasn’t the very first concert happening this year, but it was undoubtedly the first big one, and an important date on Luxembourg’s agenda.
Music lovers across the country and neighbouring countries came to enjoy a classic fireworks on Wednesday, January 8. Well-known pieces by the famous Austrian composer Johann Strauss (Son) such as the famous waltz “An der schönen blauen Donau” and entertaining pieces like the Pizzicato-Polka and Strauss (Father) Radetzky-March ensured a festive atmosphere.
Directed by the Italian Maestro Enrique Mazzola and accompanied by sopran singer Louise Alder, who gave “I could have danced all night“ as a last encore, the Orchestra Philharmonique du Luxembourg had beautiful guests to host that night.
For all who’ve missed out on this happening, be sure to join next year and take the opportunity to see one of the many concert highlights this month. The Philharmonic Orchestra of Mailand’s famous Teatro della Scala will keep up with a long tradition too when it gives its concert on the 25th of January.
