This past weekend I lucky enough to be a member of the jury for the second annual Gëlle Krëmmchen. The contest is organized by the Confrérie St Cunibert (the wine brotherhood) with the main aim of promoting Luxembourg’s Rivaner wine.
Rivaner is perfect for an easy summer night on the terrace, but after Saturday’s tasting there are a few I’ll be throwing into the mix more often! As one quarter of Luxembourg’s vineyards are composed of Rivaner and 30% of it’s overall production you can imagine how important it is for the industry.
Over the course of the morning we tasted and scored 38 Rivaners from 19 different estates in Luxembourg resulting in 6 wines winning the “Gëlle Krëmmchen” and one Prix de la Presse (my absolute favourite).
On June 28th Melusina will host “Rivaner Uncorked: an awards ceremony and celebration for the “Gëlle Krëmmchen” ! It’s going to be a fantastic night out with a walking dinner, lots of wine and an 80s & 90s party to end top off the night. Most importantly you’ll leave with a list of some of the best wines in Lux!
