TROLLS, ELVES, HOBBITS, WIZARDS AND DRAGON INVADE LUXEMBOURG: Read all about it here!
From March 25th to March 28th 2017 you can encounter the weird and wonderful characters from Middle-earth at the Tramschapp in Limpertsberg!
New World Theatre Club will be performing The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, adapted for stage by Glyn Robbins. Directed by Julie Fraser (see interview here) and Natalia Sanchez, the performances will be in English and there will be matinees on both 25th and 26th.
Written for the author’s own children, The Hobbit met with instant critical acclaim when it was first published in 1937. Now it is recognised as a timeless classic.
Bilbo Baggins is a Hobbit who enjoys a comfortable, unambitious life, rarely travelling any farther than his pantry or cellar. But his contentment is disturbed when the wizard Gandalf and a company of dwarves arrive on his doorstep one day to whisk him away on an adventure. They have launched a plot to raid the treasure hoard guarded by Smaug the Magnificent, a large and very dangerous dragon. Bilbo reluctantly joins their quest, unaware that on his journey to the Lonely Mountain he will encounter both a magic ring and a frightening creature known as Gollum.
For your chance to win 2 tickets to see The Hobbit (you may request your choice of performance, subject to availability) all you need to do is tell us, in the comments box below, your favourite character from Tolkien! The competition closes on Wednesday 15th March at midday. The date and time of the performance will be subject to availability – the NWTC will try and accommodate your preference, but cannot guarantee it. The winner will be randomly selected and will be put in touch with the New World Theatre Club to claim their tickets. Please only enter the competition once; your comment needs to be approved by the administration before it appears on the website so there may be a delay.
