As much as we love heading to the Christmas markets at this time of year, sometimes there is nothing better than a cosy drink at home amongst candles and your favourite holiday movie. Whether you’re a glĂĽhwein lover or more of a mulled cider fan, we’re going to show you how to make your favourite traditional Luxembourg holiday drinks from home.Â
GlĂĽhwein
Whether you call it glĂĽhwein or mulled wine – this festive drink symbolises everything we love about the Christmas season. Its warming notes of cinnamon and clove, with the subtle boozy hint that makes this drink a perfect winter warmer.

Feuerzangenbowle
Translating to “fire-tong punch” this traditional drink features a glühwein base with a rum soaked sugar cube that sits on metal tongs, which is then set alight. The idea is that the rum & sugar slowly drip into the glühwein. Often part of Christmas & New Years celebrations, this flaming drink celebrates the gathering of friends and family to create a sense of “Gemütlichkeit”, a German word that is used to demonstrate a sense of friendliness, celebration and warmth.
Mulled Cider
Typically sweet & aromatic, mulled cider is fragranced with citrus and heated with traditional festive spices like cinnamon & clove.
