OAK Bistro

We finally tried the raved about Oak Bistro. Read on for our verdict!

OAK Bistro describes themselves as “Tasty food. That’s it.” So we headed over to Place de Metz in the city to put them to the test.

When we arrived, just a short while after their opening at noon, the restaurant was quickly filled with diners both inside and outside. There is a small amount of outdoor seating located on the sunny side of the restaurant. However, there was no more seating available. We recommend booking a table through their table reservation number at +352 26 48 06 60. Luckily, we were able to be seated at the very last open table inside next to windows that overlooked the outdoor diners. The space is rather small, but open concept, making it feel bright and airy. The chef even prepares food in the back of the room, open to diners in front.

The staff is very attentive. I even noticed the chef delivering food and chatting to many tables. It seemed like they even had a few regulars, which is always a good sign!

Their menu changes each day, so instead of menus there is a chalkboard at the front of the restaurant with the options for the day. When we visited it was mint and broccoli soup, eggplant steak for a main dish or a veggie and hummus bowl. Their main dishes are always organic, palm-oil free, plant-based, and gluten-free. We chose the veggie and hummus bowl. Because of the occupancy of the restaurant, we did have to wait quite a while for our food. However when it arrived, we were not disappointed. The fresh, citrusy salad was paired with quinoa and two different kinds of hummus: pumpkin and classic. Our favorite part was the hearty, perfectly spiced falafel.

They were right! Very tasty food. It was simple but delicious.

Have a sweet tooth? Ask about their desserts. The day we went they had chocolate and raspberry cake!

Overall, we had a great experience. While their hours are short: from 12:00-14:30, it’s the perfect time to enjoy a tasty meal. Although as we mentioned before, we recommend making a table reservation beforehand.
