The Winter Market Season is officially upon us! After Winterlights 2020 was canceled, we have been waiting to feel the Christmas spirit again.Â
Winterlights features nine of the most popular Christmas markets in Luxembourg. The entire family is sure to find fun here with this festival hosting over 100 chalets, 1,000 illuminated decorations, a 13-meter Christmas tree, a Ferris wheel and more rides and attractions.Â
Lëtzebuerger Chrëschtmaar
The LĂ«tzebuerger ChrĂ«schtmaart is the most historic market in the City. This year there are 35 chalets, a 12 meter traditional Luxembourg Christmas tree, a Wanterzuch train to “WanterbĂ«sch” winter forest. Our favorite spectacle is the daily Christmas tree light show that starts at 5:30pm and goes for 1-2 minutes every hour until the last twinkling at 8:30pm.

Niklosmaart
The Nikosmaart or Saint Nicholas Market is even bigger and better with more chalets and attractions this year. We recommend trying the mulled wine and Gromperekichelcher (potato pancakes). They have a “St. Nicholas is waiting” attraction where children can visit and leave their lists for St. Nick on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 3pm-5pm, and between 20/11 to 4/12 in exchange, they will receive a treat.
